As I am still very much engaged on the Lay Reader training course, and also on placement this term, I decided against joining a Lent Group. These are usually church or house based group opportunities for sharing the Lenten journey, reading and understanding scripture together and generally learning more about what it means to be Christian.
In the past I have either attended groups or led them myself. My placement churches are both running groups , with St Andrew’s offering lunch to those staying on for the group after Sunday worship.
To help me engage more with Lent, I have opted for the #LiveLent six week discipleship /journey/ from the Church of England. “There’s an app for that” and when you signup you get the daily reflections by SMS and email also.
Each reflection is based on a weekly theme, with a scripture reading, pause for prayer and a “simple action that will enable the light of Jesus to shine through our everyday lives”.
It’s better than some social media / technology based faith resources I have seen. Have a look – its’ free!
