Sunday, 30th September 2018 – Wakefield Cathedral
After three years of study at Mirfield School of Ministry, I am licensed as a Lay Reader in the Church of England, alongside four of my friends, serving at Wakefield Cathedral.
Left to right: Anne Dawtry (Warden of Readers) Andy Vanstan and Jo Reid (All Saints Normanton), Kay Short (St John’s Wakefield), the Bishop of Wakefield, Simon Beresford (Wakefield Cathedral), Daniel Park (St Paul’s Alverthorpe) and Freda Jackson (Area Assistant Warden).
A ‘Reader’ is quite a long standing public lay ministry in the Church of England. My duties will include preaching, teaching, and leading in worship.
This is a very exciting occasion – the beginning of a new ministry. I will continue at Mirfield for another year, gaining a diploma from Durham University.
The Anglican Diocese of Leeds reports here.
